At its meeting on 16 September 2022, the Academic Council of the Antonín Dvořák Prize decided that the Prague Philharmonic Choir will be the recipient of this award for 2022. The Antonín Dvořák Prize will be awarded to this ensemble during the Prague Philharmonic Choir's Christmas concert at the Prague State Opera on 19 December 2022 at 8 pm, broadcast live on Czech Television.

The 15th season of our festival runs until Sunday 25 September. In total, we have prepared nearly thirty concerts and other accompanying events.

The originally announced cellist Truls Mørk had to cancel his participation at the Dvořák Prague Festival due to a muscle injury. On behalf of the festival, we wish him a quick recovery.

Concerts on 8 and 9 Semptember will be joined by Spanish cellist Pablo Ferrández, who will perform under the direction of conductor Myung-Whun Chung with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.

Both Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B minor, which he will perform at the opening concert, and Robert Schumann's Cello Concerto, which will be heard on 9 September, were chosen by Pablo Ferrández in 2014 for his debut recording, which confirmed his growing international reputation at the time. 

The organiser of Dvořák Prague, the Academy of Classical Music, together with Czech Radio, is also the organiser of the Dvořák International Radio Competition for Young Musicians Concertino Praga. Until the end of March 2023, young musicians can submit recordings for the 57th edition of the competition in the solo and chamber music categories. The two final rounds of the competition will again take place in front of an audience as part of the Dvořák Prague 2023 International Music Festival.

We would like to point out that you must always either apply your credit in full ande make up any difference in price or save it for a future purchase.  The other option is to keep the credit for the next time - in this case, its validity is automatically extended for another 20 months.

We announced the complete programme of this year’s festival on Tuesday, 29 March, and we began advance ticket sales. You can now choose from among over 20 concerts. Our programme includes popular established features and several innovations.

Are you attracted by great orchestras? Then choose an evening with the Cleveland Orchestra and its chief conductor Franz Welser-Möst on Sunday, 11 September or the appearance by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Vasily Petrenko and the soloist Lukáš Vondráček on 14 September.

We are very pleased that Argentina’s legendary pianist Martha Argerich will appear at the Rudolfinum’s Dvořák Hall on 24 September in her first visit to the Czech capital in nearly 50 years. Or do you prefer our Chamber Series? For the next three seasons, its curator will be the Pavel Haas Quartet, which will join with top quartets from this country and abroad in successively performing all of Antonín Dvořák’s string quartets along with a selection of other works. For example, you can look forward to a concert of the Juilliard String Quartet on Thursday, 15 September.

A new feature of our programming is the Dvořák Prague Festival at Bořislavka, a series of less formal soiree concerts at the headquarters of our chief patron, the Karel Komárek Family Foundation. We are returning to our highly successful series of masterclasses, and among the mentors will be the pianist Lukáš Vondráček.

Young musicians, if on 16th September 2022 you are less than 16 or 17 years old (please see details) and you feel like comparing yourselves with other colleagues, you can submit your recordings for the 56th Antonín Dvořák International Radio Competition Concertino Praga in solo category until 31 March 2022. The final round will take place live as part of the Dvořák Prague Festival on 16th September. Apart from that experience, you could gain interesting prizes, make new friends and the winner gets to make a professional radio recording. We look forward to hearing from you!

We launched our Christmas advance sales on Wednesday 24 November. You can already select the tickets you want for next year or ask Santa for them. The offer includes three concerts at the 2022 Dvořák Prague Festival: the Münchner Philharmoniker with their principal conductor Valery Gergiev on 9 September, a concert performance of Dvořák’s famous opera Rusalka with the Czech Philharmonic, its principal conductor Semyon Bychkov and the soprano Asmik Grigorian on 19 September and a performance by the excellent Jerusalem Quartet as part of the Chamber Series on 20 September 2022.

We transitioned to a new ticketing system in November 2021. When purchasing tickets on our website, you will now be redirected to the Enigoo system. There, you can purchase an e-ticket or make a reservation and then pay for the ticket and pick it up from any of the 7500 Sazka terminals nationwide.

We also offer tickets with a gift motif; this option applies to anyone who purchases an e-ticket. Once you receive your e-ticket, contact us and we will send you your tickets in the gift format by post or you can pick them up from our office. You will find all the details in the confirmation email sent to you after completing your purchase.

Ticket sales for the entire festival will commence in March 2022 and this will also be accompanied by the launch of a new loyalty program. Credits for this year’s Christmas advance sales will also be credited to all those who register.
