Jan Simon elected president of the Czech Association of Music Festivals

Jan Simon, director of the Dvořák Prague International Music Festival, has been elected president of the Czech Association of Music Festivals (AHF ČR). He is assuming the position at a time when the cultural sector is struggling with uncertainty about public funding contributions to festivals.
“I view the position as a commitment most of all. We want to strengthen the Association’s role as a true mainstay of the entire festival ecosystem – from large international events to regional festivals. It’s also critical that we start a more powerful and systematic dialogue with the state administration and local governments. Music has a strong tradition in the Czech Republic. We have a responsibility to help lay the groundwork for a strong musical future,” said Jan Simon.
The Czech Association of Music Festivals has long served as a platform for collaboration between festival organisers and for support of music development throughout the country.
We congratulate Jan Simon on his election and wish him success and stamina in his new role.
