Today we share another episode in our music series: Meet Alexander Malofeev

In this segment of our music series, we present Alexander Malofeev, a brilliant young pianist hailed as a genius by the Italian press. He is undoubtedly one of the most phenomenal artists of his generation. This September, he will perform at the Dvořák Prague Festival alongside the acclaimed Filarmonica della Scala led by Riccardo Chailly.‍

Alexander Malofeev drew worldwide attention in 2014, when – at the mere age of 13 – he won the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. Even then, critics noted that he did not play like a “typical child prodigy” but that he captivated audiences with his incredible maturity, perfect technical precision and crystal clear sounds.

Since then he has rapidly risen to prominence and today, the musical world lies at his feet. The Austrian daily Der Standard called his debut at the famous Vienna Musikverein “a world piano revolution”.

Today, this young virtuoso regularly sells out the world’s most acclaimed concert halls and is accompanied on tour by major orchestras. His artistic symbiosis with legendary conductor Riccardo Chailly is truly exceptional.

Maestro Riccardo Chailly talks about him with great admiration and fondly remembers their first meeting:

“I first heard Malofeev when he was 14 and he performed at La Scala in Milan. He literally amazed me with his talent. He is very young, but already possesses immense depth and unbelievable technical and mnemonic abilities, which make him an excellent interpreter of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, which is one of the most difficult pieces in the world piano literature.”

His performance at the Dvořák Prague Festival promises the audience a truly exceptional experience. Alexander Malofeev will appear at the front end of the Festival, on Sunday, 6 September, 2026 at 8 pm in the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum in Prague.

He will share the stage with the legendary Italian orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, led by its famous chief conductor Riccardo Chailly.
