Maestro Semyon Bychkov conducts the Czech Philharmonic

Semyon Bychkov is one of the most highly regarded conductors of our time. He leads the Czech Philharmonic as its chief conductor and artistic director. He will perform with the orchestra at the Dvořák Prague Festival in an exclusive programme alongside the South Korean piano prodigy Yunchan Lim.

Semyon has contributed to the shaping the Czech Philharmonic that will celebrate its 131st season in September. Under his leadership, the orchestra not only carries on the Czech musical tradition, but also enjoys tremendous successes on its international tours.

It is no surprise that the prestigious Gramophone magazine bestowed the 2024 Orchestra of the Year on the ensemble. Furthermore, Bychkov belongs to the world’s leading conductors, regularly appearing as a guest conductor with the world’s finest orchestras. Starting from August 2026, he will become music director designate at the Opéra national de Paris in France, assuming the post on 1 August, 2028.

The Mahler cycle

Throughout his illustrious career, Bychkov has recorded a vast number of award-winning albums. One of his most successful projects with the Czech Philharmonic has been the recording and release of the complete cycle of Gustav Mahler’s symphonies.

Another of his recordings, The Tchaikovsky Project, has also earned him exceptional international acclaim.

Don’t miss the electrifying energy of this exceptional conductor in a live concert. Semyon Bychkov will conduct the Czech Philharmonic on Thursday 10 September, 2026 at 8 pm in the Dvořák Hall at Prague’s Rudolfinum.

Together with the orchestra, they will perform a magnificent programme comprising works by Antonín Dvořák and Bedřich Smetana. The orchestra will also be joined on stage by one of today’s greatest piano talents, Yunchan Lim, in Ravel’s Piano Concerto.
