Join us for concerts featuring young talents supported by the Dvořák Prague Festival

The Dvořák Prague Festival is a longstanding supporter of emerging musicians,  opening doors to prestigious Czech and international stages through the Festival’s For the Future programme series and through collaboration with Czech Radio on the Concertino Praga competition.

Concertino Praga, an international competition for talented young musicians, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. One of the competition’s award-winners, Jan Schulmeister, recently took home the Newcomer Award from the BBC Music Magazine Awards.

The For the Future programme series is one of the most vibrant and dynamic parts of the Dvořák Prague Festival. It enables exceptionally talented young musicians to perform alongside experienced mentors, renowned orchestras and conductors, giving them unique opportunities to present their virtuosity to the public at a very young age.

Three recommendations in the For the Future programme series:

Magdalena Kožená presents, 14 September

This year’s Festival artist-in-residence will take on the role of mentor and present four gifted young performers at a concert at the St Agnes Convent: Emma Balunová, Amália Motošická, Dominik Urbánek and Theodor Šimáček.

Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra Centenary Concert, 15 September

The Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, led by new chief conductor Elias Grandy, has invited two exceptionally talented young soloists – violinist Daniel Matejča and cellist Sakura Toba – to perform with the orchestra on this occasion.

Concertino Praga Finale, 17 and 18 September

These concerts are the culmination of the Concertino Praga international competition for talented young musicians. On Thursday, 17 September, the finalists in the wind instruments category will be presented, and on Friday, 18 September, the keyboard and string instrument final competition rounds will be held.

The For the Future series provides an unparalleled opportunity to see and hear performers who will soon be the talk of the global music scene. You can find the complete programme here.
